Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be met by our professional guide who will brief you about the trip ahead.

If time allows, enjoy a brief city tour of Kigali, visiting key sites like the Kigali Genocide Memorial and local markets.

Drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

 After your city tour, begin the scenic 3-4 hour drive through Rwanda’s beautiful landscapes to the Uganda border, and continue into Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Enjoy the stunning views of the Virunga Mountains along the way.

Upon arrival in Mgahinga, check into your lodge, relax, and prepare for the following day’s gorilla habituation experience.

Early breakfast

Enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge to prepare for the day’s adventure.

Gorilla habituation briefing

Arrive at the park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers. The gorilla habituation experience allows you to join researchers and rangers as they work with a group of gorillas that are being habituated to human presence.

Gorilla habituation trek

Trek through the forest to locate the gorillas, a journey that may take several hours depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once you reach the gorilla family, you’ll spend up to 4 hours observing their behavior and interactions. This extended time allows for a more in-depth experience than standard trekking, offering a rare opportunity to be part of the gorilla conservation process.

Return to Kigali

After the habituation experience, return to your lodge for lunch. Then, begin your journey back to Kigali, where you’ll be dropped off at Kigali International Airport or your hotel, marking the end of your two-day adventure.
